Inspirational recreation of a Lakota warrior bone hair pipe breastplate based on my knowledge of a wide range of Lakota style breastplates. Comprises hand selected genuine bone hairpipes, early style brass beads, red Padre beads, rawhide shield stained with natural pigments and ornamented with brass tacks and a silk ribbon. Made by me in 2009.

The breastplate is strung on deer leather thongs. Attached at the bottom are antique hawk bells and a decorated bronze ring.
The breastplate is given an overall aged appearance to look old.
Original one-of-a-kind item made by a non-Native American artist in the genuine spirit of a piece that could have been crafted in the latter quarter of the 19th century and the early reservation period, in a style worn by the Lakota.

☩ «Lakota Hairpipe Beaded Breastplate 2365.09.04» is not a replica item based on a certain historical artifact, but comprises a mix of different elements from several Plains breastplates. Thus, in the technical sense of the word, it is an original work with a greatest possible compliance with traditional approaches, as if I were a 19th century Indian and I had a similar materials at my disposal.
